WHO WE ARE

About Us

FTPP is a non-profit organization based in San Diego, Ca. We dedicate our cause to planting fruit trees around our community. Our aim is to teach members of the community the value of contributing to the environment in proactive ways.

Benefits

Apart from being a vital part of our ecosystem, Trees offer other benefits as well:

  • Tree lined streets have a traffic calming effect, traffic moves more slowly and safely.

  • Trees slow water runoff.

    • Flash flooding can be significantly reduced by planting trees. According to About.com, a Colorado Blue Spruce, either planted or growing wild, can intercept more than 1,000 gallons of water annually when fully grown, which helps recharge underground aquifers.
  • Trees prevent soil erosion.

    • A tree’s root system binds the soil and its leaves provide a barrier to the wind and rain; thus preventing soil erosion.
  • Trees help buffer noise pollution.

    • Trees that are planted at strategic points in a neighborhood or around your house can abate major noises. This is especially nice if you live near a freeway or airport.
  • Trees cool our homes, streets, and cities.

WHAT WE DO

  • Our Mission
    • Our mission is to provide food to alleviate hunger and to enrich the soil as well as the air and water cycles of the earth so we can combat pollution.
      • Our programs seek to donate trees, training, and aftercare where the harvest will best serve communities for generations -- including public schools, city parks, community gardens, food banks and low-income neighborhoods.
        • The benefits are the piece of mind of having more fruit trees in our communities that we know are helping enrich the quality of the planet.
          • We will help strengthen our sense of community

            • We will be helping the environment!

              • We will bring awareness to new generations about the caring of a tree and the value of witnessing something grow.

            • Our Approach
              • We organize monthly planting events with volunteers.
              • We seek donations to buy trees, food, and tools necessary for the tree planting events
              • We make sure the trees that are planted are native to the land*
